Your ideas were very interesting. I also use digital recording system. I never record an idea for longer than 2-3 minutes per session.My question is why record for 20-30 minutes? Hope to hear back from you. Thanks a lot.

The reason for the 20 minute sessions is to allow ideas to develop with the critical "conscious mind" editing them. The longer the session, the greater chance of a unique and truly original idea (motive, riff, melody, rhythm etc...) coming to the surface and forming without interference.
