Using Theory Can Be Helpful To The Creative Process

I agree with you that we should look within. However, it does't hurt to have the theory knowledge to fall back on sometimes. If a person is not sure where to go from a certain point in a tune, looking at suggested chord progressions can give you an idea to work from. A person may just pick one note from that chord that helps them like a springboard to continue their creative process and looking within. I took some theory courses just to add to my "Bag of Tricks" and to help me identify chord names when I write a chart. I do mostly rely on what is withion me to create. I really appreciate all your suggestions.
